A message from Rev. Susan regarding worship and COVID-19

Dear Friends,

All week I have been monitoring the Coronavirus as I tried to learn more about how it has impacted our community so I could make good decisions about how best to lead our congregation. In consultation with the staff and church leaders and in light of the advice from public health experts at the CDC and more locally I think we should not hold church gatherings, services, meetings or classes for the next two weeks to try to practice social distancing in an effort to halt the rampant spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19. I believe that this moratorium on church gatherings should begin immediately.

Whatever caused you to click on this site, I believe God had a hand in it. And I hope you take some time to explore the site. Check out our programs, our worship times and opportunities to serve. If you are searching for something you cannot find please e-mail me (pastor@ pcchp.org) and I’ll try to help you.

Mostly, I hope you feel a sense of blessing this day. I hope you know how much God loves you.

The story I often tell when a child is baptized is the one about Jesus’ own baptism. Jesus was baptized in a river when he was a young man. As he came out of the water people heard God’s voice telling everyone that Jesus was beloved. That affirmation came before Jesus had done anything special to earn it. It was this unconditional acceptance from God that was at the root of everything Jesus did. It made him who he was. He never questioned God’s love. This story illustrates that God loves us with the same gracious acceptance.

As you read my blogs or listen to the sermons I hope you realize that God looks with favor on you too. I hope you recognize that God is also smiling in your direction.

Many blessings,

Susan
