Meet our staff.
Dr. Matt Scinto | Music Director
Dr. Matthew Scinto currently serves as the Pilgrim Church music director. Founder and Conductor of the Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra and the Music Director for the Civic Orchestra of New Haven (CT), he has twice studied conducting at the prestigious Tanglewood Music Center.
Rev. Amie Stuart Giguere
The congregation voted unanimously to call Rev. Giguere as their next settled pastor at a congregational meet- ing on January 15, following that day’s worship service, at which she was the guest preacher. Rev. Giguere earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. Early in her career, she was a public school teacher, and then the director of children and youth ministries at her home church in Tolland, Connecticut. She earned her Master of Divinity degree, with honors, from Andover Newton Theological School in 2018. She joins Pilgrim Church after serving as acting associate pastor at the First Church of Christ Congregational in West Hartford, Connecticut. She also has been adjunct faculty at Eastern Connecticut State University.
During early dialogue with the search committee, Rev. Giguere noted, “Historically, Christianity undergoes a revolution every 500 years. We’re in that time now. As a result, some worry about the future of the Church. I see it as a wonderful opportunity.”
Laura Peterson serves as Pilgrim Church’s Office Administrator. She brings 30+ years of human service experience to this position, having co-founded Sight Loss Services, a Cape and Islands-based human service organization serving those learning to cope and function safely and independently with the loss of sight. During her time at SLS, she served in administrative, financial and executive positions, as well as serving as the agency’s long-time Home Independence Instructor. Her work at Sight Loss Services brought her to Pilgrim Church for a guest presentation some 20 years ago, and she is pleased to return to the environment that was so welcoming to her back then.
Deb Larsson | CE & After School
As Director of both Christian Education and our After School Drop-in Center, Debbie brings to us her 40 years of experience as a special education teacher at Accept Education Collaborative. Her passion for “her kids” is obvious as she manages to create a never-ending set of activities and programs while adapting to new guidelines and online learning. She recently received certification in Children's Ministry as Leading Spiritual Education through South Western College.
Becky Sullivan | Online Ministry & After School
Becky’s 25 years in the newspaper business have nicely translated into
leading Pilgrim into the 21st century with its online media programs. Her role in online ministry includes serving as webmaster, technical consultant, and developer of an online "Sunday School" program. Becky also assists Deb Larsson in the After School Drop-in Center. She has also recently started a career in doing voice over work for audio books and eLearning.
Marcia Witherell | Bookkeeper
A perfect fit for Pilgrim, Marcia is a computer programmer who loves working with numbers. As a department head at Kripalu in Lenox, for 12 years she was responsible for balancing the books and accounts receivable. When she moved to the Cape she became the Treasurer/Bookkeeper for First Church in Harwich and was also employed at the Yarmouth Town Hall working in the Clerks & Collectors offices. Thinking she had finally retired in 2019, she was asked if she would be interested in coming to Pilgrim. The rest is history.
In addition to serving the Church, Marcia raises golden retrievers and was recently the proud “grandparent” of seven sisters!
